Crystal Downs Beach (Heaven with a side of sunburn.)
This weekend up north was full of all kinds of family fun! I do have to admit, however that my favorite parts were reading at the beach, playing with the dogs, and the family dinners. I happily worked a couple things off of my Summer To Do List with Saturday afternoon!
(I hung out at the prettiest beach I know and read for hours, it was fabulous!)
Frankfort, MI Carnival
Josh, my cousin Kevin, and I took a long walk through Frankfort Sunday morning with Elvis and Parker. It was nice and early, before the sun came all the way out since Josh and I were suffering some major sunburn from our previous afternoon at the beach. We walked by a carnival set up for the holiday weekend and it was just so interesting to see a carnival so still and quiet. It was so pretty and peaceful with such beautiful views. After our walk, the dogs were ready for a swim. Parker did not want to stop retrieving his tennis ball, while Elvis seemed preoccupied with rolling in the sand. We all wound up with sand covered sneakers as a result. Not to mention the fact that I was soaked from the waist down from wading out into the water in my work out clothes to swim with the them. It was so much fun!
Farm fresh strawberries, one of the best things about being up north.
Another one of the best things about up north, soft serve.
It tastes better at the kid's table according to Josh and my Aunt Kathy.
This weekend was a blast. It was so nice to get out of Lansing and Detroit for a weekend and spend some time with my family from California. I literally went the entire weekend without wearing a real outfit, doing my hair, or wearing makeup. As scary as that sounds, it was actually a nice change of pace.
Now back to slathering myself in aloe...
